不良研究所 offers 鈥楢wakening鈥 performance
不良研究所 will present a Chorale and Symphonic Band concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in the 不良研究所 Theatre.
The concert will feature a performance of American-born composer Jamshied Sharifi鈥檚 鈥淎wakening,鈥 which was created in honor of the Arab Spring 鈥 a series of anti-government protests, uprisings and armed rebellions that spread across much of the Islamic world in the early 2010s. The piece was commissioned and premiered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Wind Ensemble in 2012.
The program also includes Alfred Reed's "Choric Song" for band and chorus with text by poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson; a choral setting of William Blake's "Never Seek to Tell Thy Love鈥; a "Star Wars" arrangement; "Danny Boy" set to a traditional Irish melody; "Londonderry Air鈥; 鈥淏ayou Breakdown,鈥 which reflects New Orlean's style with a J.S. Bach-type fugue; and some lighter offerings.
The program is free and open to the public. The Theatre is located on the north side of campus, adjacent to Adirondack Hall.
